Nilsson - Sleep Late My Lady Friend

Nilsson: The RCA Albums Collection is the title of the recently released monster box set featuring 17 CD's of the late Harry Nilsson's music, 14 original albums and three collections of outtakes. It's to be bought at a very reasonable price as well, so I can highly recommend the set. Nilsson's most famous song was unfortunately not his own, but his version of Pete Ham and Tom Evans' 1970 Badfinger song "Without You" which he took to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1972, and also in the UK, Australia and many other countries. And athough Nilsson did wonderful things with other people's songs (among them Lennon/McCartney, Randy Newman, Fred Neil and many more) he wrote a fine batch of classics himself. "Sleep Late My Lady Friend" is a dramatic-sounding ballad off his 1967 debut album Pandemonium Shadow Show, and a true classic. I mean, that voice... wow!
